Wreckage in the Ring

Fifty-foot fighting mechs, squaring off in makeshift arenas. Neuro-receptive youths vying for victory, the sound of steel on steel. Only one victory condition: be the last fighter left operational. Baying crowds beg for fire and destruction, safely out of range of the weapons. The decaying spires of the over-city provide a colosseum backdrop to vicious, desperate battle. 

The truest fans, those in the know, whisper the truth to eachother - mechs are expensive, and it would never make sense to actually destroy them so extravagantly. The pilots, skilled performers; the mechs, designed to be easily repaired and easily torn apart.
